POLICE are hunting two thieves who raided a newsagents making off with £1,500 worth of goods.

The offenders smashed a side window of Brass’ Newsagents, Whalley Road, Clitheroe, in a bid to gain entry and used torches to steal items, which were then loaded into an unknown car.

They then returned to the shop, leaving within five minutes before one of the offenders returned to get a bag which they had left behind.

The break-in occurred between 10-40 and 11-10 p.m. on March 6th.

Sgt Gary Henninghan, of Clitheroe Police, is investigating the incident. He said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious to come forward. A key aspect here is that the burglary occurred just off a busy road and there may have been pedestrians passing at the time or drivers who noticed the broken window.”

Please call Clitheroe Police on 443344 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
