A 30-year-old man set up a bogus Facebook profile for his ex-girlfriend from Clitheroe and then published saucy photos of her wearing only underwear.
Blackburn magistrates heard Daniel Boothman then sent out messages inviting her friends to visit the site which also contained “revolting” messages about his ex.
Boothman of Knaresboro Avenue, Blackpool, pleaded guilty to pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of his former girlfriend. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
Mrs Philippa White (prosecuting) said as well as the Facebook incident Boothman bombarded his ex-girlfiend with text messages and phone calls, some of which were distressing.
One message said he had never hated anyone as much as he hated her and warned her car was going to burn the next day. In another he said he hoped she would be in a crash and end up sucking food through a straw for the rest of her life.
Another message said he was glad her husband had died and he hoped her children would die next.
“While she was at the police station making a complaint against him she received 29 messages from the defendant,” said Mrs White. “The majority were not threatening but they became more and more so when she didn’t respond.”
Boothman said their relationship had become passionate very quickly and had been centred on love.
“The night I said those nasty, horrible things on the voicemail she was trying to hurt me,” he said. “I regret it totally and I would never harm a hair on her head.”
