This cherub won’t be spreading any love on Valentine’s Day.

The antique statue, worth around £4,000, was stolen by heartless thieves during a break-in at a popular Ribble Valley café bar and restaurant. Police hope the thieves can still find it in their hearts to return the cherub-fountain undamaged.

The statue was stolen from the frog pond at the entrance to The Glass House Café Bar at Stydd, Ribchester, on the night of Thursday, February 6th. Police think the garden ornament may have been stolen to order.

Alison Brown, proprietor of The Glass House Café Bar, says she would love to see it back: “The little cherub had been here for many years and it was the first thing customers saw as they entered the café.

“It gave people such a lot of pleasure and now there’s just a hole by the frog pond and no cherub. It’s so sad.”

Anyone with information about the stolen cherub is asked to contact the police on 101 or ring The Glass House on 07854 509698.
