A 46-year-old man has appeared before Blackburn magistrates after allegedly trying to stab a police officer during an incident at a Ribble Valley caravan park.

The court heard David Carter had allegedly initially threatened paramedics with an 8in. knife before PC Nicholas Gray put himself between Carter and the medics.

Carter, of Woone Lane, Clitheroe, was sent on bail to Preston Crown Court charged with affray at Todber Caravan Park, Gisburn.
