The girls at Salesbury Cricket Club rounded off their season by playing against their mums in a fun cricket match.

The girls couldn’t decide which was the highlight of the season: being the Honour Guard for the Lancashire Thunder in their match against Berkshire or beating their mums.

Derrick Smith, who manages the girls’ section at Salesbury CC, says the club’s objective this season has been to grow participation in girls’ cricket through partnerships with local primary schools.

This will continue next year but as some of the girls move on to secondary school the club will automatically grow into Under 13 girls cricket.

With indoor practice sessions this coming winter and a competitive 2016 season to look forward to, Salesbury CC will welcome girls from School Years 4 to 8 who would like to try out the sport. Contact Derrick Smith at Salesbury CC – website: http://www.salesburycc.co.uk
