Could you be a volunteer for the Samaritans?

That is the question being asked of Ribble Valley residents as the charity that helps people in need launches a recruitment drive.

An appeal has gone out for volunteers to sign up to support people who may not have anywhere else to turn. Anyone with a few hours to spare each week would be welcome to help the charity that has a wide range of roles available to suit people with different skills, from taking calls to the helpline, providing administrative and IT support or organising fund raising activities for the Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley branch.

The Samaritans offers round the clock emotional support for anyone feeling down, depressed, anxious or unhappy and the confidential service is offer by phone, email, text, letter and face to face.

If you would like more information o becoming a samaritan the next information session is on Monday, November 12th from 7pm until 9pm at the branch at 105, New Park Street, Blackburn. Alternatively ring 01254 682266 or email blackburn@samaritans.org.
