Clitheroe man punched and head-butted: police appeal

POLICE are appealing for information after a man was subjected to an unprovoked assault as he walked home in Clitheroe in the early hours of Monday, July 23rd.

The 29-year-old was walking alone between 12-30 a.m. and 1-30 a.m. near Trinity Methodist Church when he was approached by two men who, in an apparently unprovoked attack, set about punching and head-butting him before running off.

Both offenders are described as being white, aged in their late teens or early 20s. One man was around 5ft. 9in. tall, of stocky build, with shaved fair hair and the other was 6ft. 1in. tall with short ginger hair and was wearing light clothes.

Fortunately the victim only suffered minor injuries.

Sgt Peter Moore said: “The motive for this attack is unknown and an investigation is underway. I would appeal to anybody that witnessed this assault or with any information that could assist us with our investigation to come forward and contact PC 2066 Williams at Clitheroe.”
