AFTER a fun and busy year of fund-raising, totalling around £2,000 for local charities, outgoing chairwoman of Clitheroe Ladies’ Circle Jayne Case handed over the reins to her successor, Natalie Nicholls.

They welcomed new members to Clitheroe Ladies’ Circle, whose next meeting will see them grass sledging at Waddow Hall on May 11th, followed by refreshments at a local pub. Traditionally Ladies’ Circle members were the wives and partners of Round Tablers, but that doesn’t have to be the case and the group is open to all women aged 18 to 45. Ladies’ Circle Area 35 held its AGM combined with a fund-raising “Party for Parkinsions” at The Godfather Restaurant, Darwen. Money was raised by beating a “piñata” donkey which then had to be given the kiss of life by chairwoman Alex Bennett, plus an unusual game of pass the parcel.
