Forget Red Nose Day...it was Red Rose Day when Clitheroe celebrated Lancashire Day with good free helpings of Lancashire hot pot.
Award-winning chef Anson Bolton, from the Millstone, Mellor, was at the castle gates with steaming dishes of the Lancashire staple food.
Ribble Valley Mayor Coun. Richard Sherras and Mayoress Mrs Lynne Pate joined the fun, along with town crier Roland Hailwood and local journalist Eric Beardsworth (inset) and met the Thwaites brewery dray horses. Then in Market Place Mr Hailwood read out a proclamation to commemorate the day in 1295 when Lancashire sent its first representatives to Parliament – now remembered annually as Lancashire Day.
