Children from Belarus were introduced to the Clitheroe Town May Coun. Val Cooper on their recent visit.

On a trip to the town hall, the children were given a talk by Howel Jones, a previous town mayor, on the role of the mayor, and the history of the mayoral regalia including the mayor’s chain, mace and halbards.

They were also shown the Mayor’s robes, modelled by Coun. Cooper herself.

The children presented the Mayor with a photograph and taught her some Romanian words, which resulted in laughter at her pronunciation.
