CHESS Grandmaster Keith Arkell took on 13 players in a Simultaneous Exhibition at The Brown Cow, Chatburn... and remained unbeaten.

However, the Grandmaster did concede three draws at the event organised by Clitheroe Chess Club, with Paul Timson, Martyn Hamer and Gordon Glover proving equal to the expert on the day.

the right move: Grandmaster Keith Arkell ponders his next move on one of the 13 boards.

Special thanks go licensees at The Brown Cow John and Michelle, for hosting the event, where a cake in the shape of a chess board, complete with chocolate chess pieces, was enjoyed by all.
