A chef swapped pots, pans and recipe books for a running challenge.

Amanda McCreadie, who is a chef at Clitheroe's Ribblesdale High School, completed the Great North Run to raise cash for Save the Children charity.

She travelled to Newcastle for the event, the largest half marathon in the world, after completing months of training.

Amanda (52) has now been spurred on to take part in the Blackpool half marathon next year and she has persuaded her colleague, Joanne Scott, to run with her.

Sporty Amanda then plans to run the Edinburgh half marathon for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
