A COOK from Clitheroe has reached the final 10 in the Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses “Handmade with Love” recipe competition.
Two of Christine Snape’s recipes have reached the final stage of judging – her Lemon Cheese Tarts made with Butler’s Tasty Lancashire cheese, and her Cheese and Tomato Whirls, which used Crumbly Lancashire. The judges were impressed with the simplicity of the Whirls, and the unusual use of Tasty Lancashire in a sweet pudding dish.
Christine is a retired teacher who loves cooking, especially dinner parties for her friends. She did teach children to cook at one stage, but now just creates her culinary masterpieces for fun.
Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses, the Lancashire-based family of artisan cheese makers, has been searching to find the most delicious, lovingly prepared recipes using its hand-made cheeses. Loyal fans of the family’s cheeses have been sending in their favourite recipes since April and after much debate in the kitchen, the family has narrowed all the entries down to a final 10.
The winning cook will be announced next month and then invited to the dairy and farm at Inglewhite, near Preston, to meet the family, see how the cheese is made and be filmed making their recipe in the family kitchen.
The recipe will also be made up and photographed and used on the company’s website and in a mini recipe booklet, a great platform for any budding chef! The winner will also enjoy a two-night stay in luxury at Northcote, owned by local celebrity chef Nigel Haworth, and receive a year’s supply of Butler’s Cheese.
