Billington victims of the devastating Boxing Day floods are being urged to apply for funding to rebuild their homes and lives.
The community at the lower, west end of Longworth Road was severely affected by river flooding of approximately 4ft. Almost 11 months since the flooding, which saw so many families’ lives turned upside down, some of the residents are only just returning to their homes. But they now have the opportunity to apply for funding to rebuild the local community. County Coun. Alan Schofield said: “There are remaining issues for the residents’ well-being and community safety, particularly of worsened unadopted roads, which need resurfacing. In addition, street lighting is required. There’s currently a bid for money from Aviva Insurance community fund grants competition via https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/16-3472 “Longworth Road Community Improvements” Residents are able to register online and use their 10 votes for the bid. The deadline for voting is November 18th.”
