Longridge is now only weeks away from Stage Two of the Tour of Britain which will pass through the town on September 7.
Group leader, Longridge mayor Coun Sarah Rainford, says there is “a huge buzz in the air as Longridge businesses, schools and community interest groups unite with an ever increasing line-up of events.”
The tour’s local yellow and red posters are appearing everywhere through Longridge, yellow bikes will shortly be suspended above the town’s shops and businesses to promote Longridge as a fantastic place to live, visit and do business.
And the mayor added: “Look out for the unique event branding, which has been kindly provided by Norman Tenray and his team at Obas - there will be lots happening!”
The Gym Cycle Challenge continues to attract increasing interest and this week contenders included deputy mayor Rupert Swarbrick, former mayor Rose Adamson, encouraged by mayor Sarah Rainford as they reached respective results in the 20 minutes of 13.7km and 10km.
Neither had been close to a bike of any sort recently but they both said they enjoyed the challenge. There is still time for others to get involved for a chance of winning the prize for the furthest distance covered in the 20 minutes.
Gym leader Angie Harrison said she was thrilled with the number taking part and the fun they were having. The free challenge is open to anyone in the community by booking a slot to cycle 20 minutes non-stop on 01772 923986, e-mail
firstname.lastname@example.org or just call in at the gym.
