Burnley Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will receive a boost to funds thanks to the efforts of Chatburn salon owner Sami Higson and Beauty Therapist Vickie McKenna.

Sami and Vickie, of Mad About Beauty, have organised the event, named the “Little Treasures Family Fun Run” which will take place on Sunday, June 2nd at 10 a.m., starting from Clitheroe gym Crossfit who are also hosting the event.

Vickie said: “We’ve had a number of friends and relatives recently that have found themselves relying on the work of the unit when their babies have required specialist care. Although there have been both happy and terribly sad outcomes for the families involved, the staff on the NICU couldn’t have worked harder, so we wanted to show our support for everything they do.

Sami continued: “It’s such a good cause and we wanted to organise an event for families to get involved together to show their support, so we’ve chosen a route which will be suitable for parents with young children and pushchairs and then as many people as possible can join us. There’s a 5km and a 10km route to choose from, so the more the merrier!”

The girls are asking for participants to bring along small change they have lying around, to help them mark out the first mile in pennies. An entry fee of £10 is payable, with donations required from under 16s. For more information, contact Mad About Beauty on 01200 440955.
