A four-year-old from Clitheroe is through to the Disneyland Paris final of an annual beauty pageant.
Poppy Mai Dalby, of Salthill Road, was selected to represent the North-West in the international Face of the Globe 2014 contest and competed on Saturday for a place in the final.
The daughter of Emma Taylor and her partner, local barber Michael Dalby, Poppy was up against seven other children aged five to eight at the heat held in Chester.
She was crowned Mini North West Face of the Globe 2014 and won the chance to represent England in the international grand finals on October 14th at Disneyland Paris,
Mum Emma said: “We are all so extremely proud of her. She was tipped as favourite to win all day, and although she didn’t win any of the little sections with sashes, she was crowned winner and is just so excited.”
As part of the process, the Brookside Primary School pupil had to raise as much as she could for the pageant’s chosen cause, the Rainbow Child Foundation.
Earlier this month she staged a sponsored fancy dress walk to raise funds for under privileged children across the world. She has also been sponsored by Clitheroe hairstylist Joseph Lanzante.
Poppy is continuing fund-raising for the Rainbow Child Foundation and Cornelia de Lang Syndrome charities in the UK and Ireland.
“We have lots of things coming up in future which includes Poppy hosting her own beauty pageant in the local area to show young girls that pageants are not like they are portrayed and are far from the stigma of makeup and falseness,” added Emma.
“It’s the beauty within each and every person. We can’t wait to get started and raise as much awareness as possible.”
