COPSTER Green Chinese restaurant Yu & You was voted Britain’s favourite local Chinese restaurant.

TV chef and cookery author, Ching-He Huang, announced the news at the Tsingtao Legacy of Taste Awards held at London’s Grand Imperial.

Forty per cent of people regularly dine out at Chinese restaurants and the annual Tsingtao Legacy of Taste competition aims to herald those establishments that continue to protect the heritage of Chinese cooking in Britain by continuing to use authentic Chinese cooking methods.

Yu & You’s category of Britain’s Favourite Chinese Restaurant had thousands of votes from members of the public, with Yu & You outvoting every other local Chinese restaurant in Britain. All voters have been entered into a draw to win flights to China, courtesy of Cathay Pacific.

Vinny Yu, of Yu & You, said: “It’s a great achievement to be a winner in the Tsingtao Legacy of Taste competition – it’s the only competition of its type in Britain. To be recognised alongside Michelin-starred London restaurants is something we’re really proud of. The award has come at a great time for us business wise as we’ve just launched our new bar area to encourage city-style dining, which is also a chance to showcase our cocktail offering. We think it’s true to say we’re further reinforcing Lancashire as one of Britain’s best epicurean hotspots.”

James Wright, lead judge for Tsingtao Legacy of Taste, said: “This is the fifth year of Tsingtao Legacy of Taste and the standards of Chinese cuisine have been higher than ever before. In Britain, we have some of the best Chinese food outside of China and Yu & You has done exceptionally well to win the nation’s favourite local Chinese restaurant title.”
