A well-known local couple who owned Tomlinson’s Bakery and Pie Shop, in York Street, Clitheroe, are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Friday.

Ian and Kath Tomlinson took over the bakery in 1968 and served many customers with their famous pies until until 2002!

Ian was a semi-professional footballer and played for Chatburn FC, Clitheroe FC, Great Harwood FC and Accrington Stanley.

In 1962 a Valentines card was sent with Kath putting her initials underneath the stamp! The rest, as they say, is history. They married on March 14th, 1964, at Clitheroe Congregational Church, with a reception at The Brown Cow, Chatburn.

Now retired and still living in Clitheroe, Ian and Kath are members at Ribblesdale Bowling Club. They have two children, Andrew Tomlinson and Nicola Martin, and two grandchildren, Daniel and Adam Tomlinson.
