Leading Lancashire hotel Stanley House Hotel and Spa has announced the promotion of Jon Riding as head chef of the its award-winning “Grill on the Hill” restaurant.
Located in Mellor, with views across the Ribble Valley, The Grill on the Hill has served guests such as Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter and Ryan Giggs. It has also been awarded Visit England’s “Highest Quality Assured” quality mark following a recent taste assessment.
New head chef Jon (34) has worked at Stanley House for three-and-a-half years as sous chef before being promoted to the new position. Prior to that he was a sous chef at Nigel Haworth’s Northcote Manor before gaining experience at one of Australia’s renowned coastal restaurants in Apollo Bay. One of his first challenges as head chef was cooking for Michelin-starred chef and TV favourite Jean-Christophe Novelli at a recent Stanley House “Ladies Who Lunch” event.
Commenting on his promotion, Jon said: “It’s been an incredible few weeks, especially being congratulated by someone of Jean-Christophe’s calibre. Securing head chef is a positive move for me heading in to 2014. There’s a really good working atmosphere at Stanley House and you feel like you are an extension to the family when you join the team.”
