The annual Johnson Matthey retired employees outing this year took in the delights of the seaside on a day trip to Blackpool.
57 retired employees, wives and widows enjoyed the excursion courtesy of the Clitheroe chemicals company.
The day started at Clitheroe Interchange, where the party was picked up by coach. Lunch in Blackpool was followed by the opportunity for some late Christmas shopping and then it was on to see “Scrooge - The Musical” at the Winter Gardens. After the show, the party continued on to Bond’s of Elswick, where everyone enjoyed having a catch up with old friends.
The retired employees outing is an annual event open to anyone who has worked at the Clitheroe site, who contributed to the fund during their time of employment.
The event is usually held in the summer months, but was this year arranged to coincide with a Christmas show.
Lisa Sanderson-Hughes, from the company’s community liason department said: “The outing helps retired work mates keep in touch and contributes to Johnson Matthey’s community engagement policy. It’s a way of thanking our retired employees for their loyal service over the years and our current workforce also contribute to the outing fund as a way of saying thank you for laying the foundation for the successful work place that they enjoy today.”
