Grandad and computer fan David Charnley was delighted to receive £50 of shopping vouchers as the latest winner in the Shop Clitheroe monthly draw.
He will be checking out the Visit Clitheroe website and the 78 businesses participating in Shop Clitheroe, but adds: “As regulars at Cowman’s Butchers and Swales’ Colborne House Cafe I know we won’t have any difficulty finding somewhere to spend them.”
Recently retired from full-time employment at Lodematic, David now works there part-time to help train a young apprentice, and in his spare time he enjoys holidaying with partner Justine.
He said: “As a family we love shopping in town and have had a Shop Clitheroe card for about 18 months. Most of our shopping is done with local businesses.”
David received his vouchers from Julie Watson at Automotion, Highfield Road, which has a product range covering motor vehicle repair parts and accessories, bicycle sales and servicing plus roof box hire or sales
Julie said: “We became members of the scheme as soon as it was launched.
“The Shop Clitheroe card can be used with any purchase over five pounds, so simply hiring a roof box to provide extra luggage space for a few days, or longer, would set you off towards filling a card.”
Run by Clitheroe Chamber of Trade and Commerce and promoted by the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times, Shop Clitheroe rewards customers with a stamp every time they spend five pounds or more at a participating business, with a monthly chance to win £50 in vouchers.
There are special prizes at Christmas and also in August to celebrate the Clitheroe Food Festival.
