An international barber to the rich and famous is sharing his passion and the secrets of his success at a new purpose-built shaving school for hairdressing apprentices.
Ribble Valley-based Joseph Lanzante, of the Men’s Room, Clitheroe has 30 years’ experience as an award-winning barber and his expertise in men’s grooming has taken him all over the world.
His high profile clients include soap opera stars and footballers, while his charismatic, flamboyant charm has endeared him to local customers at his King Street salon.
A video demonstration of “How to Shave” filmed at the Men’s Room has gone viral and has received more than 220,000 hits to date.
Italian-born Joseph, who now lives in Clitheroe, is launching a state-of-the-art barbering and shaving academy just off the M65 at Clayton-le-Moors near Accrington.
Students from top hair salons from across the North- West travel here to take up a range of private specialist courses, Government-subsidised apprenticeships and, in partnership with Blackburn College and Skills Solutions, Manchester, NVQ levels two and three.
“All hairdressers and barbers have now realised that the demand for wet shaves using traditional shaving techniques has never been greater. We may be in a recession, but the market for male grooming is growing by the day. Salons that embrace our shaving and barbering techniques make more money – it’s simple!” Joseph explained.
An open evening is being held on next Wednesday, May 7th, between 6 and 8-30 pm at the Joseph Lanzante Academy, 1 Walmsley Court, Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington, BB5 5JQ. Parents with 16 to 19-year-olds are welcome to pick up details about the free career and training for young apprentices.
