There were lots of winners at the Trevor Dawson Charity Golf Day where the sun shone and 21 corporate teams enjoyed the immaculate PGA Open Qualifying course conditions of Clitheroe Golf Club.
Word has just come in that the charity golf day raised more than £5,000 for the Blackburn Youth Zone. The Trevor Dawson event itself raised £5,000 and Luke Churnside, from Barclays Corporate, kindly funding a further £1,000.
Blackburn Youth Zone is a newly established facility in the heart of Blackburn, which provides opportunities for the whole community to support the town’s young people. It is a landmark facility of world-class standard that is leading the regeneration of the town. Andrew Graham, of Graham & Brown, is the chairman of Blackburn Youth Zone and like many local businesses supported the golf day by entering a team.
Trevor Dawson, Chartered Surveyors, who have offices in Blackburn, Burnley and Bolton, staged the day in celebration of their 25th Anniversary and to support their local charity.
The Golf Day saw 21 teams teeing off together at noon in a shotgun start after enjoying coffee and bacon butties on arrival. The overall winners were Farleys Solicitors with 98 points, followed by Southerns Solicitors in second place and Handelsbanken in third. The day culminated with a dinner and prize presentation, after enjoying the glorious sunshine with drinks overlooking the 18th green.
Caroline James, Senior Partner of Trevor Dawson, commented: “2014 is a year of celebrations and a thank you to our loyal clients and we were delighted to support Blackburn Youth Zone and spend time with our clients on such a relaxed and enjoyable occasion. We hope this will become an annual event.”
Julia Wright of the Blackburn Youth Zone added: “Thank you Trevor Dawson for a wonderful day. The money raised will be used to make sure we can continue to offer world class sports and arts facilities to young people, 365 days-a-year for just 50p per visit.”
