A major project in Clitheroe that will create up to 150 jobs and boost tourism was praised today by Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans.
The opening of Holmes Mill last weekend heralded the start of a new era for the town as one of its most historic buildings has been transformed into a modern multi-purpose leisure space and is the new home of Bowland Brewery and the beer hall.
Mr Evans said:“I’m delighted that Holmes Mill has opened its doors to the Ribble Valley public, increasing the appeal of Clitheroe to tourists, whilst increasing opportunities to those without jobs.
“The Ribble Valley is already a close-knit community and this will only serve to increase this.”
An unprecedented swell of public support ensured success for the project after planners threatened to prevent the proposed renovations going ahead. More than 1,100 people signed a petition calling for the work to go ahead.
Mr Evans added: “This shows the widespread support this project has around the constituency.”
