Charity supporter and great-grandma Jean Dickinson is the latest shopper to be rewarded for shopping locally in Clitheroe.
Jean Dickinson, who lives in Waddington and is originally from Longridge, has received £50 in vouchers in the “Shop Clitheroe” monthly draw, run by volunteers from Clitheroe Chamber of Trade and Commerce and promoted by the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times.
Jean and husband David have seven children, 16 sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and when not looking after her family Jean enjoys helping out at Crossroads Care. She is also a keen member at Waddington Bowls Club.
Jean said: “This is a nice surprise as I rarely win prizes, but recently I was the winner at Waddington Bowls club raffle, maybe lightning can strike twice!”
Jean received her prize from Gillian Swales, at Colborne House Café, Wellgate, famous for its pie and peas.
Gillian said: “Lots of our regulars use their Shop Clitheroe card whenever they call in. It’s quick and easy to use and every time they spend over £5 they get another stamp.
“We wear a stamper out every 12 months as anyone buying an ice cream soda or a coffee and cake for two people qualifies for a stamp. Everyone should get a card and use it, after all it’s free to customers and only costs businesses £28 a year.”
Shop Clitheroe cards are available free, from all town centre businesses displaying the purple castle logo.
The scheme has been running for over three years and continues to grow with new members signing up daily, and rewards members for shopping locally with £50 worth of vouchers given out every month and extra prizes at Christmas and in the August Anniversary Superdraw.
