An outstanding Easter Lamb Show and Sale was a real credit to the vendors at Clitheroe Auction Mart.

Trade was good throughout, with all the honours this year going to Continental lambs. Topping the prize list, as judged by Mr Alan Moorhouse, was an outstanding pair of Continental lambs from P.R. & H.J. Marginson, of Higham, going on to sellat £118 per head (278ppkg).

The best single lamb came from Mark Worthington, of Ramsbottom, weighing 44kg and later sold for £104 (236ppkg).

Full results were: Best single lamb – 1 M. Worthington, 2 P.R. & H.J. Marginson, 3 K. Whitwell. Best Continental pair – 1 and 3 P.R. & H.J. Marginson, 2 M. Worthington; Pen of six horned/hill Hoggs – 1 T. Robinson, 2 J.T. Forrest, 3 R. Gill & Son. Pen of six down hoggs – 1 T. Robinson, 2 P. Stringfellow, 3 Fox Farms.
