STAFF and customers at Sainsburys, Clitheroe, raised more than £1,600 for the East Lancashire Hospice.

A round thousand was raised with a variety of fund-raising efforts including the Christmas Santa Dash, a cake-baking event and collecting boxes at the checkouts.

Another £639 was raised with the Christmas bag-packing service.

Clitheroe store manager Rob Green presented a cheque to Sharon Crymble, fund-raising manger for the hospice.

Sharon said: “I’d like to thank the staff and customers at Sainsburys for their efforts.

“We rely on the generosity of the local community to continue our care for patients, and we’re very grateful for support like this.”
