CHILDREN at St James Primary School, Clitheroe, have been presented with high visibility vests after an employee from the town’s 3M manufacturing site saw its pupils walking in procession on a school outing.

Kerry Walton, admin supervisor at 3M’s Upbrooks site, noticed the pupils were not wearing high visibility clothing on their walk.

“I rang the school and said we would be happy to donate vests for them to use,” she explained.

Headteacher Paul Adnitt said the donation of 80 high visibility vests was exactly what they needed. “We have wanted some high visibility vests for a long time, but haven’t had the funds to spare, so the kind offer was very much appreciated,” he said.

“The vests will be extremely useful for when the pupils go on outings and also for their safe cycling training sessions.”
