A TEAM of expert valuers from Clitheroe-based auction house Silverwoods of Lancashire will hold a special valuation event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support next week.
It takes place on Tuesday, October 30th, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Auction Rooms, Ribblesdale Centre, Lincoln Way, Clitheroe.
For a £5 donation to Macmillan Ribble Valley, anyone can bring along up to five items of quality ceramics, pictures, silver, jewellery, furniture, collectables and antiques for a no-obligation identification and valuation by the Silverwoods team. Valuations for additional items are available at £1 each.
Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, medical and financial support to cancer sufferers and campaigns for better cancer care. The Macmillan Ribble Valley team will be serving homemade teas from the Auction Room café and running a raffle as part of the event.
Their chairman Susan Fillary said: “We’re hoping as many people as possible will come along and bring lots of items for appraisal and valuation on the day. It’s a fun way to raise money for a cause close to many hearts and we’re grateful to Silverwoods for arranging it for us.”
Silverwoods auctioneer Wilf Mould added: “Good quality antiques are holding their value well at the moment and a number of vendors have recently had antiques sold for far in excess of their valuations.
“People wishing to sell items subsequent to valuation will be able to leave them at Silverwoods either for auction in our popular weekly sales or for our Special Sale in December. We’re delighted to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support through this event. So many of us have been affected by cancer and know from personal experience what a wonderful charity it is.”
Since its inception in 2004, the Ribble Valley branch of Macmillan has raised more tha £200,000 for the charity, which receives no government funding, and has grown to a membership of more than 120. This local group of the charity welcomes new members, who can contact Susan Fillary on 01254 813012.
The next Silverwoods Special Sale takes place on Thursday, October 25th, at the Auction Rooms at 10 a.m. Every Wednesday, “Rediscovery” sales of antiques, household furniture, effects and collectables now start earlier at 1 p.m. due to a huge increase in items for sale.
