A THRIVING touring caravan dealersip owned by Waddington couple Mark and Denise Holden is celebrating two major national awards.

At the 2012 Motorhome and Caravan Show, at the National Exhibition Centre, near Birmingham, Read Caravans won the award for Best Caravan Servicing and were runners-up for the Best Caravan Dealership award.

This year’s awards were sponsored by the Caravan Talk website, one of the largest online caravanning communities in the UK with more than 30,000 members. Members were asked to vote in various categories from the first nominations to the final winners.

This meant that the finalists and winners were chosen for their merits by a large and independent caravan community, giving the awards a customer-led credibility not found elsewhere.

the award for Best Caravan Servicing was the first of its kind in the industry, specifically acknowledging the work done by caravan aftersales and workshops, while finishing national runner-up in the main category for Best Caravan Dealer was another major accolade.

Originally based in Read (hence the name), the business was founded in 1986 but a decade later had outgrown its original site and so moved to its current three-acre site at the Whitebirk industrial estate on the edge of Blackburn.

Since then Mark and Denise have continually developed and added to the business, making it one of the most comprehensive dealeships in the UK. Also known as Reads World of Leisure, it now retails new touring caravans from major brands including Bailey, Swift, Lunar, Venus and Sprite, plus a range of quality used touring caravans. The business also carries out servicing and repairs, including insurance and warranty repairs, damp repairs and floor delamination, while the on-site Leisure Shop stocks a wide range of caravan accessories

and awnings.

The latest awards were collected by Read Caravans general manager Shane Smith and aftersales adviser Anne Hargreaves.

Commenting on the awards, Shane said: “On behalf of all of us from Reads, especially everyone in our aftersales centre, can I say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us.

“We feel very proud and honoured to have won the best caravan servicing. This award means a lot to us because we pride ourselves on trying to offer the best service we can. To have our efforts acknowledged by customers in the first award of its kind for servicing, makes it that bit more special.”
