Samantha Murray and Jeremy Gorick - the High Sheriff of Lancashire - prepare for a celebratory duel at the opening of the new Bowker Ribble Valley car dealership

We’ve all heard of duel fuel... but this is ridiculous!

Ribble Valley’s Olympic silver medallist Samantha Murray and the High Sheriff of Lancashire Jeremy Gorick were tempted to try a little swordplay for the official opening of the area’s newsest motor dealer.

Thankfully the only thing that’s “cutting edge” at Bowker Ribble Valley is the customer service. The new dealership, based at the former Bay Horse Saab site at Osbaldeston, is the latest addition to the Bowker Motor Group and its first non-franchise operation, specialising in prestige and sports cars.

Joining the High Sheriff and modern pentathlete Samantha at the official opening were the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Ribble Valley Coun. Richard Sherras and Mrs Lynne Pate.

Bowker has invested more than £750,000 in the new dealership on the site alongside the A59 Longsight Road, creating 10 new jobs in the process.

While Bowker’s other dealerships in Blackburn and Preston are BMW and MINI franchises, Bowker Ribble Valley specialises in retailing all makes of prestige and sports cars with full aftersales facilities offering servicing to all makes and models of cars, including MOT and tyre bays.

Bowker Motor Group chief executive Paul Bowker said: “I am delighted to confirm that Bowker Ribble Valley is now open for business. We have already lined up an impressive stock list of prestige and sports cars and the site on the A59 in Osbaldeston offers the perfect opportunity to extend our dealership experience across to all makes and models of cars.

“We are very grateful that Samantha Murray, the High Sheriff of Lancashire and Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Ribble Valley agreed to take time of their busy schedules to help us celebrate the opening. We are pleased to be here in Osbaldeston and look forward to an exciting new chapter in the Bowker Motor Group success story.”

Bowker Ribble Valley is run by managing director Chris Eccles, who will operate the site in conjunction with his role at Bowker BMW and MINI in Blackburn.

The addition of its ninth dealership sees Bowker Motor Group increase in size to more than 200 staff with a combined capacity to buy, sell, hire and service more than 20,000 cars and motorcycles every year.
