Learn how to manage your money at Clitheroe course

CURRENTLY the average personal debt in the UK, excluding mortgages, is £7,982 per household.

If, when you read this, you can say: “Ah, but mine is so much less than that,” or “But I have no debts,” what that actually means is that there are people out there whose debts are so much higher than the almost £8,000 average.

The interest we pay on this debt amounts, on average, to £2,427 per household per year. That’s more than £2,000 people could have in their pockets if they managed their money better. Money to pay the rent, to feed their children, or to take a holiday to get away from the stresses of life for a week or two.

“CAP Money” is a completely free three-session course that teaches people to budget and to manage their household finances better. It could help you to avoid falling into debt, or to work your way out of debt.

On Saturday, March 3rd, Clitheroe Community Church will start its fourth CAP Money course. This time the emphasis is on making CAP Money accessible to parents with young children. Kathryn Weston, of Clitheroe Community Church, explained: “We are running the next CAP Money course on Saturday mornings and are delighted to be able to provide a free, fully staffed crèche on site to make it easier for parents with young families to attend.”

Money coaches Andrew, Kathryn and Will have been trained by debt counselling charity Christians Against Poverty to run the sessions. They look forward to welcoming new people to this course which is proving so popular in and around Clitheroe as well as across the UK.

The course takes place at The King’s Centre on Millthorne Avenue, off Henthorn Road, on Saturdays March 3rd, 10th and 17th, starting at 10 a.m. To find out more about CAP Money visit www.capmoney.org and to book a place on the Clitheroe course telephone 01200 444148.
