A UNIVERSITY student from Grindleton has been awarded a prestigious scholarship.

Laura Airton (22), from Grindleton, who is studying for a degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams University, is a recipient of The Lord Leverhulme Charitable Trust Scholarship.

The scholarship is open to all second or final year BSc students at Harper Adams, whose permanent home is in Cheshire, Shropshire or South Lancashire. The successful recipient receives a one-off payment of £1,000 to help towards their studies.

The Development Trust Scholarship Presentation, held in the Queen Mother Hall on the university’s campus in Shropshire, was attended by scholars, their sponsors and staff, and followed by a drinks reception.

Laura said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have received a scholarship in my final year of studies at Harper Adams University.

“I am very grateful to The Lord Leverhulme Charitable Trust for supporting me and making this valuable contribution at such a crucial time in my academic career. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Harper Adams University and I am looking forward to completing my degree and entering the world of work.”
