Clitheroe cyclists raise cash for British Heart Foundation
A TEAM of cyclists from the 3M site at Clitheroe raised £1,880 for the British Heart Foundation’s Heart of Blackburn Appeal in a sponsored marathon across the Pennines.
Eleven riders covered 140 miles pedalling from the company’s Upbrooks site over to Bridlington on the east coast.
“The Appeal is a great cause and we were really pleased to have been able to do our bit in raising funds towards it,” said Darren Jackson, who organised the ride. “We’d like to thank colleagues, friends and family for their support and also the 3M Care & Share matchfunding scheme.”
The target for the Appeal is to raise £128,000 for a 3D Echocardiograph machine for use at the hospital.
Barbara Dunn, the BHF’s Fundraising Volunteer Manager for Lancashire, thanked the 3M cyclists for their efforts: “The machine will give cardiologists the ability to use ultrasound to see the inner workings of the heart and give a new dimension to the diagnosis and treatment of patients,” she explained.
