Booths supermarkets has raised a fantastic £5,400 for the Royal British Legion through sales of the iconic Poppy Jute Bag, which has become something of a fashion craze amongst celebrities this year.

Booths, which has a store in Clitheroe, was the first supermarket to stock the bag and has now been doing so for three years. From the sale of every bag 90p goes to support Armed Forces families, the money going directly to charities to help their important work providing practical care, advice and support to all members of the British Armed Forces and their families.

Booths Buyer Leigh Anne Carr commented: “We are pleased to be able to do our bit for the remembrance of our honourable Armed Forces community.

“The poppy jute bag is an alternative way to support the annual poppy appeal and has become a big trend amongst shoppers who, as well as helping the environment, have the added guarantee that their purchase is contributing to the support of our British Armed Forces.”
