Bashall Eaves pub relaunch raises £1,345 for Derian House

a VILLAGE inn’s grand relaunch night after a major refurbishment raised more than £1,300 for Derian House, Lancashire’s hospice for sick children.

John and Martina Myerscough organised an organic hog roast and wine tasting party for their customers old and new to sample the new look at The Red Pump Inn, Bashall Eaves.

It was followed by an auction and raffle that raised £1,345 in just an hour and a half.

Some 20 suppliers and other businesses supported the fund-raising.

Martina said: “We have some cracking customers, a lot of whom were there on the night supporting the event, but also we could not have done it without the support of a significant number of Ribble Valley businesses.

“Times are tough for every business at the moment, but they joined us at The Red Pump for the fund-raiser and their input was excellent in raising the funds.”

Martina added that few days after the event, they received a certificate in the post from the Pub Aid organisation pointing out that pubs raise £100 million a year for charity, and this is being affected by pub closures.

She said: “It made for quite sombre reading and made us even more grateful for the support we received from great customers and local businesses during our little event.”
