A celebration of the centenary of Brownies was held at Downham Village Hall.
Activities included traditional skills, such as sewing buttons, safely lighting a match and hammering 100 nails into a block of wood to make the Girlguiding trefoil.
Some of the activities were “unladylike” and would not have been permitted 100 years ago. These were included to celebrate how the rights of girls have changed since 1914 when Brownies began.
The event concluded with a specially performed dance to “Reach for the Stars”.
