It was a case of hair one minute ...and gone the next for Waddington man Ed Stockton.
For the 28-year-old had his hair and beard, which he cultivated for years, shaved off and raised almost £2,500 for two deserving charities in memory of his sister, Vicky, who died 10 years ago.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics and the accident and emergency department at Burnley General Hospital, Vicky died in 2006 after collapsing at home. No cause of death was apparent at the time and a coroner’s verdict was death by natural causes.
Ed said: “Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes is an umbrella term used for the many different causes of cardiac arrest in young people, many of whom appear to be physically fit with no apparent health problems.” In order to keep Vicky’s memory alive, Ed decided to embark on the charity challenge raising £1,344 for Cardiac Risk in the Young and £980 for Amnesty International. He thanked everyone for supporting the fundraising. Anyone wishing to support Ed can do so by logging onto either www.justgiving.com/Ed-Stockton or www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Ed-Stockton1
