A glittering night went ahead despite the absence of the guest of honour, after an unfortunate accident meant she could not attend.

Ribble Valley Mayor Coun. Joyce Holgate was unable to attend the annual Mayor’s Ball at Mytton Fold Hotel after she fell and broke her leg on Thursday.
But in true Dunkirk spirit, organisers rallied and managed to raise more than £2,000 on the night for the Mayor’s chosen charities including The Royal British Legion, Young Carers and the Ribble Valley Heart Fund.
The mayoress, Coun. Holgate’s daughter Debora Holgate, stood in to make the mayor’s address and proposed the loyal toast.
Singer and DJ Wayne Farrow entertained the guests with a selection of music from across the generations and genres.
