A brand new committee has been set up in the Ribble Valley area to help raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The group, made up of six locals, will meet regularly at The Emporium on Moor Lane, Clitheroe, to discuss different ways to raise money and awareness in the local area.
They are starting with taking control of the charity’s collection tins in local businesses, then later in the year looking at organising fund-raising events and local Christmas collections.
Marie Curie Community Fundraiser Lucy Leeming said: “We are really excited about our new Fundraising Group.
“In the past we have had lots of collections in the Ribble Valley area, and we have always recieved generous support from the members of the public. We’re looking forward to all the exciting opportunities for the group.”
The new Fundraising Group will support the vital work of the charity in continuing to provide Marie Curie Nursing care locally. Marie Curie nurses give people with all terminal illnesses the choice to die at home if they so wish. They provide them and their families with hands-on care and emotional support, in their own homes right until the end.
