Celebrity baker Paul Hollywood helped to raise more than £2,000 by hosting the final Ladies Who Lunch event of 2012 at the Stanley House Hotel and Spa.

Wirral-born star baker Paul entertained more than 150 guests at the Mellor hotel’s sellout event in aid of children’s charity “Miles of Smiles”.

Guests were treated to a drinks reception before being served a two-course menu of butter roasted breast of turkey with all the trimmings and mulled pear crème brulee with cinnamon ice cream and pear crisp, the menu devised by Stanley House Hotel executive head chef Steve Williams.

Afterwards guests posed questions to Paul, who has baked for the likes of Tom Cruise at The Dorchester and the late Queen Mother. As well as hearing from Paul, guests browsed a number of stalls from specialist retailers including the Half-Baked Cake Company, designer Michelle B and The Flowershop, of Clitheroe.

Attendees also received a number of exclusive discounts on selected treatments at Stanley House’s luxury spa, plus a top prize of a relaxation package.

Paul joins a list of celebrity guests who have hosted the event and helped to raise more than £7,000 for charity this year. The list includes Dancing on Ice winner Hayley Tammadon, broadcast legend Anne Diamond and Coronation Street’s Shobna Gulati.
