Eaves Hall was the setting for the 27th Charter Luncheon of the Inner Wheel Club of Ribblesdale.

Club President Cynthia Openshaw welcomed members and guests from other clubs. After the meal she introduced the speaker, John Pye, a well-known local magician who had conjured up sufficient time out of his busy schedule to explain how magic tricks go under one of eight headings – power, production, vanish, penetration, restoration, prediction, transformation and animation/levitation.

He demonstrated most of these by showing various examples, having co-opted President Cynthia as his glamorous assistant for several of them.

John also told the audience that, whereas the Magic Circle is an organisation just in this country, the International Brotherhood of Magicians is worldwide, having been founded in 1922 in the USA. John is only the fourth British person to have the honour of being its International President and he and is wife are enjoying visiting several different countries and conventions.
