Castle Street, which was closed to traffic for a traditional market consisting of more than 55 stalls, was packed by visitors sampling the best of the area's culinary delights and perusing the arts and crafts on display.
Offering something for everyone, the event was opened by celebrity chef and co-owner of Northcote Manor Nigel Haworth, who gave a talk and demonstration on "seasonality" at Clitheroe Market using seasonal produce on sale there. He then visited York Street's The Grand for a mini demonstration as part of the venue's "Theatre of Food".
Shopkeepers got into the spirit of the event by donning fancy dress, while youngsters were left awe-struck by the array of giant characters, stilt walkers, big bird comedy street performers, furry fun mascots and balloon artistes entertaining along Castle Street.
The event also enjoyed a real musical vibe with an exclusive live and al fresco performance by Clitheroe Pop Choir, as well as music by world champion accordion duo The Petulengros Sisters and local opera duo Trovatori.
Clitheroe Castle also hosted a medieval re-enactment weekend on Saturday and Sunday when The Freemen of Gwent entertained visitors with an action-packed day of 14th Century medieval re-enactment adventure for all the family.
