NEARLY 1,000 little plastic ducks made a spec-quack-ular amount for Sabden Football Club over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The crowds came out as the numbered yellow ducks were dropped into Sabden Brook at Bull Bridge and swam down to New Bridge where the first over the line won their owners some great prizes donated by local businesses, ranging from cash to flat screen TVs.

Players from the club, led by secretary Alison Davies and acting chairman Jacqui Ashton, organised the event and sold tickets and Jacqui said the event had been a great effort, raising £800.

This will go towards improving the changing rooms and facilities at the Nutter Barn pitch including a new roof and showers.

The club then hopes to field girls’ and under 16s’ league teams.
