World-renowned guitarist to gig in Clitheroe

GUITARISTS and anyone who appreciates musical excellence should head to The Grand, in Clitheroe, on Wednesday, September 23rd.

It is hosting a concert, and pre-concert workshop, with one of the world's leading guitarists, the acclaimed John Etheridge, and with support from up-and-coming six-strung "wunderkind" Kit Holmes.

Firmly established as one of the world's most respected guitarists, Etheridge's music spans a myriad of styles and influences. He was guitarist for celebrated jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli and has also performed with Pat Metheny, Andy Summers, Dizzy Gillespie, Nigel Kennedy and is currently in a duo with the eminent classical guitarist John Williams.

His special guest for this imtimate tour is singer/songwriter and rising guitar star Kit Holmes.

Her music fuses a broad range of influences from pop to folk, blues and soul and latest album, "Catch The Echo", has earned rave reviews.

Next Wednesday's concert includes a 45-minute pre-show guitar workshop, a rare chance to pick up some expert tips and advice about all aspects of guitar playing. All abilities are welcome, from age 10 upwards – just bring an acoustic guitar to take part or simply listen and learn.

The workshop starts at 6-15 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m.

Tickets cost 14.50 for adults and 8 for children, including free entry to the guitar workshop. To book, call the box office on 01200 421599 (www.thegrandvenue.co.uk)
