FESTIVAL SUCCESS: Samantha with her latest trophies from the Luther Greenwood Festival at Colne.

TEENAGE singer Samantha Oxborough will need some more silver polish after her latest music festival triumphs.

Samantha (18), from Sabden, won all four classes she entered in the Luther Greenwood Memorial Festival at Colne – light opera, junior solo, folk song and British composer – in her last appearance in the festival’s junior music section for competitors up to 18.

She competed again in the festival’s adult section, singing against experienced competitors, and won the mezzo-soprano solo class and operatic solo class, and was runner-up in the lieder/art song class.

A music student at Nelson and Colne College, Samantha has been auditioning for a place at some of the country’s top music and performance colleges and aims to make a career in music.

When she isn’t singing solo, she plays euphonium with Burnley Junior Alliance band and sings with Pendle Youth Choir.

Clitheroe music student Jack Bowtell, who is also in Pendle Youth Choir, won the tenor solo section and was runner-up in the light opera/musical class in his adult music class debut at Colne.
