Music Review: Hipsters, Deacon Blue

editorial image

SCOTTISH band Deacon Blue is enjoying a revival. Twenty five years since forming, the band is on the road playing to sell-out audiences and wowing them with the new album Hipsters.

Great care has been taken over the creation of the album and its testament to the excellent professionalism of Ricky Ross, Lorraine McIntosh, James Prime and Dougie Vipond, that Hipsters is such a success.

Many bands use milestones to churn out old favourites in a bid to draw back their old fans. But Ross and co have been bold and come up with some lovely tunes including Laura from Memory and It Will All End in Tears.

The band certainly lives up to the old saying, “improving with age’’ and “saving the best for last’’, although on this success, I am sure there will be many more to come!
