Jazz marathon for Children in Need
TWELVE hours of non-stop tip-top jazz will raise money for the BBC Children in Need appeal in Clitheroe this weekend.
The Atrium Café at Clitheroe Castle is the venue for the mammoth Jazz Marathon organised by the Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues Club.
Running from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and with free admission, it features an amazing line-up of excellent local musicians who have given their full commitment and time for free. Some will be well known to local music fansm, others are newer faces, but all are accomplished musicians and keen to support Children in Need.
Eric Ainsworth, The Mark Lewis Trio, Wilf Nuttall, Lyn Fairbanks, Tom Allonby, Kevin Morris, The Bourbon Street Roof Raisers, Ribblesdale School Singers, The Pendle Jazz Men, Evie Plumb, The Slipper Band, Latinos, Ted Taylor and Frank Flynn, and The Secret Singers are among those already confirmed.
The venue has a licensed bar and good parking, and food will be available throughout. Organiser hope that plenty of people will visit throughout the day to listen to some amazing jazz in a variety of styles, enjoy good company, join in the singing and most of all, make a contribution for Children in Need.
All donations on the day will go the the charity and there will also be raffles, a lucky dip and Children in Need merchandise on sale.
l The next regular gig at the Atrium will be the club’s Christmas Jazz Party, featuring Dave Mott’s Jazz Classics, on Thursday December 1st. For more information see the club’s website at: www.rvjazzandblues.co.uk
