‘Jackfest’ organised in memory of cancer victim
FRIENDS and family of cancer victim Andrew Jackson are busy organising the second “Jackfest” to raise money in his memory.
Devoted father-of-three Andrew, who was popularly known as Jack and worked at Clitheroe Light Engineering, had battled against aesophagal cancer and died last May.
His wife Joanne, with help from family and friends, organised the first Jackfest in October at the Catholic Club in Lowergate and raised more than £4,700 for Cancer Research.
It was such a success that they decided to make it an annual event, nearer the anniversary of his death.
The second Jackfest, on Saturday May 18th, will follow a similar format, with a pie and peas supper, disco by Funkster Dazzy B with equipment loaned by Key Street, and the band will be home-grown “Compared to What” with Clitheroe’s Blackledge brothers.
Joane said: “It will be coming up to the first anniversary of Andrew death on May 16th, and to mark it what better way than a celebration of the thing Andrew loved. Hopefully we’ll raise lots of money, too.”
Tickets are available now, at £10, on sale from the Catholic Club. Early booking is advised, as the last event was a sell-out and people were turned away on the night.
